The governors of Washington, California and Idaho are taking a bold stride to begin to ween ourselves from the current gasoline infrastructure. A proposed plan along the 1,382 miles of the west coast I-5 corridor would create a “green freeway” utilizing rest stops as refueling stations for alternative-fuel vehicles. The idea of building decentralized smart grid’s to distribute power is the talk of the sustainable community currently. By decentralizing the power grid it reduces the vulnerability of terrorism attacks, reduces rolling blackouts and allows the efficient deployment of renewable energy sources like wind and solar. |
